Council Announcements

On Saturday 20th March 2010, the annual bike race is held in our locality between 10.00am and noon. Because of this race, the following streets will be closed to traffic during this time: 8th September Avenue and Ggantija Plots. Residents are advised to use Sellum, Ghajn Hozna and Ghajn Xejba as alternative routes for entrance to or exit from Xaghra. Thanks for your cooperation.

On Tuesday 30th March 2010, an informative session regarding the decoration of the Easter traditional ‘figolli’ will be held at the council’s administrative offices. This session begins at 4.00pm and will be led by local confectioner Jeffrey Farrugia. Those interested in participating are kindly requested to book not later than Saturday 27th March.

The Xaghra Local Council is receiving nominations for the annual honour GIEH IX-XAGHRA 2010 which will be awarded during the commemorative evening of the Locality Day held on Saturday 24th April in Victory Square. The application form and all the related rules can be found in the ‘News’ Section of this website. Closing date: Tuesday 23rd March at 4.30pm.

The Xaghra Local Council is offering to pay the transport service for all those youths who intend to attend for the meeting with His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI on Sunday 18th April 2010 at the Valletta Waterfront. Youths between 18 and 35 years who are interested in participating should contact the Local Council’s offices by not later than Wednesday 17th March.
