LIBRARY DAY 2012

With the aim of instilling special love for reading in our children, the Xagħra Local Council once again organised THE LIBRARY DAY as part of the activities related to Xagħra Day.This was held on Friday 27th April.

The ‘Patri Ġiġi Camilleri SJ’ Public Library, administered by the Xagħra Local Council, is one of the most active libraries in Gozo with an increasing number of residents and Gozitan people who make use of its services. As it is the custom on every Friday, the public library opened for the service at 9am and remained open till 2pm. Between 9am and noon, various educational visits took place by the children attending the Xagħra Primary School. Some of these children offered a book from their own private collection to be included in the list of books offered by the library.

Maltese author Ms. Nathalie Portelli was also present for this activity on an invitation made by the Xagħra Local Council. She signed various books for the children present. Xagħra Mayor Mr. Joe Cordina together with councilor Maria Grima (responsible for the library) and Assistant Principal and Librarian Josephine Sultana were also present for this activity as part of Xagħra Day celebrations.

The programme of activities continues on Saturday 28th April 2012 with various celebrations as mentioned in the programme. We invite you to attend!
